A BUSI­NESS­MAN who scammed £34m of VAT has been forced to hand over a for­tune in rare sport­ing mem­o­ra­bilia – in­clud­ing a pair of Wayne Rooney’s per­son­ally signed FOOTBALL BOOTS.

Crooked Thomas Scragg ( 56, was jailed for 17 years af­ter be­ing con­victed and jailed for lead­ing one of the big­gest scams in Bri­tish fraud his­tory in July 2010.

The ca­reer crim­i­nal – whose properties have al­ready been sold – blew his swag on high liv­ing and sport­ing mem­o­ra­bilia – in­clud­ing Rooney’s boots from the 2007 FA Cup fi­nal.

The boots – now worth £2,000 – will now be sold along­side other goods bought by Scragg, of Soli­hull West Mids, at auc­tion.
