Bent ‘Fin­gers’ to go straight

A NO­TO­RI­OUS crook nick­named “Fin­gers” has vowed to go straight – af­ter be­ing nicked 398 times.

An­drew Davies, 34, earned his name be­cause of his love of pinch­ing.

He was yes­ter­day be­hind bars for steal­ing jars of cof­fee af­ter promis­ing a judge it would his last time be­fore the courts.

At New­port Crown Court Judge Wil­liam Gaskell told Davies: “The only way to over­come this is by your own de­ci­sion.

“Just try to get a grip on your life and grow up.”

Davies was 15 when he started his two-decade shoplift­ing spree in shops around his home town of New­port, South Wales.

Stu­art McLeese, de­fend­ing, said: “This will be the last time he will be in trou­ble, he in­tends to change his ways.”
