Jose joins £20m Benteke fight
CHELSEA are set to fight Tottenham for Christian Benteke as they begin to lose patience with Napoli’s demands for Edinson Cavani. Aston Villa star striker Benteke has told manager Paul Lambert he wants to leave the club after saving them from relegation last season.
The 22-year-old could be available for around £20million, which is £30m less than what Napoli want for Cavani.
Benteke smashed in 19 goals last season for Villa and the Belgium international would be a perfect fit for Jose Mourinho’s new-look Chelsea.
The Blues boss is looking to build a young side to challenge for trophies for years to come.
And with Paris Saint-Germain ahead of Chelsea in the race to land Uruguay ace Cavani, Benteke’s transfer request could have come at the perfect time for the Stamford Bridge outfit.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is also interested in Benteke.
