WINGER UP FOR LIFE WITH MOYES

- By TREVOR WILLIAMS

NANI has dropped a major hint he wants to STAY at Man United – despite interest from Monaco.

The Portuguese winger, 26, has just one year left on his current deal at Old Trafford and under Sir Alex Ferguson looked set for an exit.

United offered him a new deal at the end of last summer but a contract was never agreed and he came close to a switch to Zenit St Petersburg before the transfer window closed.

Monaco sporting director Vadim Vasilyev has revealed the big-spending French outfit have been offered the chance to sign Nani for £8.5million and are set to offer him a three-year deal.

Nani suffered from a nose problem at the end of last season and did not travel on United’s pre-season tour of the Far East.

But he returned to action with a dazzling display, scoring both goals in a 2-0 win at Crewe on Monday.

Impact

The former Sporting Lisbon man has yet to make a firm decision on his future. But he has suggested that he wants to hang about and make an impact under new boss David Moyes (left).

He said: “Of course there was a big difference when Sir Alex left, but the team is the same and we hope that the new manager comes with a lot of new ideas.”

Moyes will look to sort out Nani’s future and is also set for talks with wantaway Wayne Rooney this week.

Jesse Lingard has made a major recent impact – bagging four goals on the pre-season trip.

And the 20-year-old is desperate for the chance to continue his run in Tuesday’s friendly against Swedish outfit AIK despite Rooney, Nani, Antonio Valencia and Javier Hernandez all returning.

He said: “Hopefully I’ll get the chance to play, even get among the goals, to keep me in the manager’s thoughts.”
