THE SERIOUS SAM COLLECTION – Xbox 360 – £29.99 CAVING in the heads of thousands of alien bad guys never really goes out of fashion.

Which is why this bonkers first-person-shooter – first unleashed for PCs back in 2001 – is getting another new modern release.

This re-mastered HD collection includes Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter, Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter, Serious Sam 3: BFE (plus Jewel of the Nile DLC pack) and Serious Sam: Double D XXL.

All four games offer something slightly different, but revolve around shooting the living sh*t out of every E.T unlucky enough to come across your path, as you try to take down the evil Mental and his armies. One of the newest, and arguably best titles, is

Serious Sam 3 which was released originally in 2011 and can see up to 16 players fighting cooperatively online or, if you prefer to play with your mates face to face, a handy four-person split screen.

If you’re feeling nostalgic, you can transport yourself back to the early Noughties when the Playstation 2 ruled the world.

Serious Sam First Encounter relives the original storyline, but adds improved colour and detail.

And if you want to get seriously old skool, there’s also a bonus ‘DD XXL’ game offering a no-frills, 2D way to murder those space-bound bastards with your mates.
