Catch of the day for footie gaffer Barry
MADCAP footie boss Barry Fry was on hand when his daughter went into labour at home – and CAUGHT the baby as it arrived.
Amber, 26, had been watching the England v Scotland match last Wednesday with dad Barry and mum Kirstine, 57.
Her partner and professional footballer Craig Mackail-Smith, 29, was also at her side after withdrawing from the Scottish squad due to an achilles injury.
Minutes after the final whistle Amber went into labour.
The family made a frantic call to the midwife but when the baby started to arrive Craig was talked through the birth.
But it was left to Barry, 68, to catch his new granddaughter.
Craig said: “Barry was there to catch the baby as it came out – I’ve never seen him move so fast.”
Amber gave birth to healthy 6lb 12oz Isla with no medication.
