Welsh cops flak for Mcavoy role
CONTROVERSIAL author Irvine Welsh got bollocked by his mum for turning squeaky clean actor James McAvoy into a sex-mad cop.
In the big-screen adaptation of Irvine’s novel, McAvoy, 34, plays Edinburgh police sergeant Bruce Robertson – a sexual deviant with a penchant for drugs and kinky games.
author Welsh, 54, said: “When I showed my mum the trailer, she was like, ‘What have you done to that lovely James McAvoy?’”
McAvoy didn’t take long to convince Welsh he was right for the role.
The novelist added: “James was so clean-cut, he looked 10-years-old. But after sitting with him for half an hour, he got into character.
“He aged and looked really sleazy.”
