LIONS ARE IN IT TOGETHER
had a bad time.” Milner reckons that approach helped England hit the ground running when they started the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign in Switzerland last month.
He said: “The talk around the team in Switzerland wasn’t good and that’s when you need your team spirit.
“People were saying what a difficult game it was, and that’s when you need your team spirit to come through to go there and get a result. We did that and we played very well.
“Teams with less spirit and less togetherness might not have done that.”
The win in Switzerland handed England a massive boost in their bid to top the qualifying group.
Standards

“But when teams come and sit it’s not easy to break them down. The biggest thing is not letting standards drop even against a lesser opposition. We want to keep improving.
“Obviously it’s a game we should win and everybody knows that, but we have to go out there and do it. As a team and an individual we all just want to go out there and put on a good performance, keep working on what we have been working on and keep improving, that’s the biggest thing. Hopefully the result will come from that.
“To just go in there and start thinking about the goals – we have to be concentrating on how we want to play and if we can do that, hopefully the goals will come.”
