IT WASN’T MOY IDEA!

Fergie tries to backtrack on failed United appointment

- By FRANK McCAULEY

SIR ALEX FERGUSON has performed an amazing U-turn, claiming the appointment of David Moyes WASN’T his idea after all!

Moyes took over from his fellow Scot at Man United, where he was sacked after less than 12 months.

Fergie had previously claimed that he personally told Moyes he was the man he wanted to replace him at Old Trafford.

But, after realising that decision backfired spectacularly, he is now saying that was never the case.

In the updated version of his autobiography, Fergie has gone back on his original claim, saying it was actually a decision made by the club – not him – after thorough research.

“There appears to be an accepted view out there that there was no process. Nonsense,” he said. “We feel that we did everything the right

THE ULTIMATE

way – quietly, thoroughly, professionally.”

Fergie goes on to slam Moyes’ decision to clear out the backroom staff at United and bring in his own people.

He added: “Maybe David felt that at such a massive club he had to be sure that all corners were covered in terms of his support system.

“I felt that network was already there, with plenty of great people already in important slots.” HARRY REDKNAPP has launched an astonishing new verbal assault on Adel Taarabt, claiming he’s the WORST pro he has EVER had to deal with.

The QPR boss and the Moroccan have traded insults over recent weeks.

And Redknapp is particularly cruel in his latest outburst.

He blasted: “He’s not fit to play a game and that’s the truth.

“He is the worst professional I’ve ever come across.

“He doesn’t try. I’ve protected him for too long.

“The only reason he lost any weight is because he had tonsillitis.”
