MILNER: I DON’T WANT TO LET GO! Holders desperate to win trophy again
JAMES MILNER insists Man City’s players are desperate to put up a strong defence of the League Cup – despite a hectic period of games.
City have crucial matches in the Premier League and Champions League coming up in the next few weeks.
But England midfielder Milner says the Capital One Cup holders are keen to go and win it again this season.
“Although some say some cups are more important than others, a lot of people have never won the League Cup and will be without midfielder Frank Lampard, but French playmaker Samir Nasri is poised to return after missing seven games following groin surgery.
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew risks a backlash from fans if he makes wholesale changes for the Etihad clash.
Daunting
between last Sunday’s win at Tottenham and a daunting home game against Liverpool on Saturday lunchtime.
Pardew made six changes before winning at Crystal Palace in the previous round and will be tempted to again call up Rob Elliot, Mehdi Abeid and Adam Armstrong.
Sammy Ameobi is likely to start after scoring at White Hart Lane.
The forward said: “City is never an easy place to go to, but I’m looking forward to it.
“If we can go out with the confidence we had against Tottenham, you never know what can happen.”
