UKIP MORE RELEVANT THAN EVER

FROM UKIP’S DEPUTY LEADER

-

been. UKIP is the party that has already banked four million votes for the cause in the general election and only last year won the European elections on a platform to leave the EU.

UKIP is a party with more than 40,000 enthusiastic members who will go out in rain or shine to deliver leaflets and knock on doors.

This party will be the engine room of the referendum campaign.

But that referendum campaign needs to start now. Not next week, not next month and certainly not next year, as some would like.

Those who want to stay in the EU are already campaigning.

Not a day goes by without hearing some politician like Peter Mandelson or Ken Clarke tell us that the world will cave in if we leave the EU, or a businessman like Richard Branson scaremongering about job losses.

We need to be campaigning now to counter the myths and scare stories being put about by these people.

The biggest mistake we can make is to sit on the fence and do nothing.

Some want to wait, let the Prime Minister go through the charade of his “renegotiation” with the EU and see what he comes back with.

This is wrong. We should be the ones setting the bar for David Cameron and giving him a list of demands that we want on the table – such as an end to freedom of movement of people, regaining our fisheries and cutting the bloated EU budget.

But to do this we must start driving public opinion now.

And that makes UKIP more important and more relevant than at any point in its 22 year history.
