BODY IN CAR BOOT AT TEST CRICKET GROUND
A BODY has been found in a car boot near England’s cricket ground in Edgbaston, Birmingham.
Police are treating the death as suspicious and investigating the find, made on Monday.
Local man Tanveer Iqbal had been reported missing after not being seen since closing his shop, Hi-Tech Music in Smethwick, on Sunday evening.
The 33-year-old’s body was found in the boot of his Renault Clio on Portland Road.
Forensic examinations are taking place amid ongoing enquiries.
Detective Inspector Paul Joyce, leading the inquiry, said: “We’re working around the clock to try and piece together events leading up to this man’s death.
“Portland Road is likely to remain closed while my team carries out an examination of the scene.
“If anyone has any information which they think may assist me with this investigation, I would urge them to get in touch as soon as they can.
“I am particularly keen to speak to any witnesses who may have seen Mr Iqbal between closing his shop in Smethwick on Sunday night and the time he was discovered at lunchtime on Monday.”
