27 stranded in M-way pile-up

A CAR was left crumpled on the roof of another vehicle following a crash on one of Britain’s busiest motorways.

The six-vehicle collision, including a coach with 27 passengers, forced two lanes to close between junctions five and six of the M6 near Birmingham yesterday.

Police confirmed that minor injuries were sustained by those involved, and drivers were warned to avoid the area while the lanes were cleared.

A replacemen­t coach arrived to collect the stranded passengers. SHOWERS will continue through Wednesday with thunder in central and southern parts. Some sunshine in the far west. Highs of 14C in London & Cardiff, 13C in Manchester, Belfast and Edinburgh. It’ll stay unsettled with rain, heavy at times, on Thursday. Highs 19C in London, 15C in Cardiff & Belfast, 16C in Manchester, 15C in Belfast, 12C in Edinburgh.

OUTLOOK: Friday will see sun and showers, with the risk of hail and thunder – after that winter returns in all its windy, rain-soaked fury.
