27 stranded in M-way pile-up

A CAR was left crum­pled on the roof of an­other ve­hi­cle fol­low­ing a crash on one of Bri­tain’s busiest mo­tor­ways.

The six-ve­hi­cle col­li­sion, in­clud­ing a coach with 27 pas­sen­gers, forced two lanes to close be­tween junc­tions five and six of the M6 near Birm­ing­ham yes­ter­day.

Po­lice con­firmed that mi­nor in­juries were sus­tained by those in­volved, and driv­ers were warned to avoid the area while the lanes were cleared.

A re­place­ment coach ar­rived to col­lect the stranded pas­sen­gers. SHOWERS will con­tinue through Wed­nes­day with thun­der in cen­tral and south­ern parts. Some sun­shine in the far west. Highs of 14C in London & Cardiff, 13C in Manchester, Belfast and Ed­in­burgh. It’ll stay un­set­tled with rain, heavy at times, on Thurs­day. OUT­LOOK: Fri­day will see sun and showers, with the risk of hail and thun­der – af­ter that win­ter re­turns in all its windy, rain-soaked fury.
