THIS WEEK? Attacks are seeds of a greater terror to come

-

AN 86-year-old priest is beheaded while delivering Mass at his own church in France.

A bomber blows himself up outside a music festival in Germany.

A teenage kid runs amok with an axe shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’.

Different places. Different times. Different perpetrators.

But somehow connected – and somehow still our fault.

It seems now that the grotesque Islamic State videos of vile murder on foreign shores have been superseded by equally barbaric acts closer to home.

Kids can no longer swim safely in public swimming pools.

Churchgoers can’t find safe haven in their chosen place of worship. Soldiers are at risk merely by being at their barracks.

Everything, it seems, starting to unravel.

How can we stop these murderous fanatics carrying out slaughter on the streets?

I’d say “God only knows” – if I didn’t think that it might offend someone else’s God. is I SHOULD be delighted that the missus ( has won a chilli-making festival in our home town again.

(“For the second year running, actually,” I hear bellowing up from the dungeon.)

But it means for yet another 12 months I will have to stare glumly at the trophy on the mantelpiece reminding me once again of what a bloody “winner” she is.

And that, my friends, is what’s annoying me most this week.
