My Dave will take Rio by storm

I’LL hold my hands up and admit that I haven’t actually watched much of the Olympics coverage this time around.

For me, the most exciting part is when the Paralympics kick off once the main Games have finished.

I always get such a buzz from watching the Paralympians compete as they are such incredible, inspirational people and they have overcome so much to get to where they are. And, as always, I will be cheering on my good friend David Weir. I’ve mentioned before in my column that he grew up on the same estate as I did and it’s great to see someone from my area doing so well for themselves.

My sister still lives around there, so it’s great to see the gold postboxes – thanks to the Gold medals he won at London 2012 – whenever I pop round to see her.

David is going for five golds this time around and I will definitely be tuning in to see him in action!
