MOST people have BOOZE to thank for the number of notches on their bedpost.

A new survey has revealed that a whopping two-thirds of Brits have only ever bonked on the first date when they’ve been under the influence.

Just 30 per cent of people said they had shagged a partner for the first time when they were stone cold sober, according to a poll by dating app Temptr. I’M GONNA CLIMAX FOR YOU!

The survey quizzed more than 2,000 British adults, aged 18-40, about their first sexual experiences and whether they were fuelled by the hard stuff.

According to the findings the main reason for so many drunken romps was nerves, with a whopping 81 per cent of people admitting they downed a drink to calm them. And 58 per cent said their lack of self-confidence was the main reason they felt the need to guzzle so many drinks before hopping into the sack.

Founder of Temptr, Jack Knowles, commented: “Having sex on the first date is completely up to the two people involved.

“If you feel comfortable with the person and you feel as if you’ll have a good time, go ahead and don’t let other people judge you for it.

“However, if you do not feel comfortable with the idea of having sex, don’t drink just DON’T get me wrong, I’ve definitely had sexual encounters where I’ve necked a few drinks beforehand to calm any jitters – but not every time! Sex can be great when you’re both a bit tipsy as all of your inhibitions go out of the window, but people shouldn’t rely on it to have a good time – you can’t be drunk every time you shag. to put yourself at ease and then go home with your date.”

The dreaded feeling that something could go wrong was another worry, according to the adults polled, with 42 per cent of those polled admitting they have worried about potential sexual blunders.

Finally, almost one in three people confessed that they regretted the first time once the deed was done.

The most common reason put forward for regretting it was...that they were too drunk to enjoy it! I’VE never had sex on the first date, all of my ‘first times’ have been a few dates in when I feel comfortable with the person. And by the time I feel comfortable enough to sleep with them, I don’t see the need to have a drink. Plus, when you’re sober there’s no risk of forgetting what you got up to next morning – and you need to know whether it’s a romp worth repeating!
