Plane’s tyre burst terror

-

A PLANE carrying 76 passengers was forced to make an emergency landing when a tyre burst as it took off.

People on board the Flybe flight from Amsterdam to Manchester yesterday said they felt a “big shudder” as the aircraft’s tyre blew out.

The captain and cabin crew on the Bombardier Dash 8 plane appeared unaware of the problem until passengers spotted the shredded tyre out of the window and told them.

The plane had to be diverted to Birmingham airport, with some on board sobbing and hugging before landing.

Emergency services were waiting on the ground but the plane landed safely.

The airport runway was closed for half an hour yesterday but reopened soon after 4pm.
