Footballer Ched Evans tells court he didn’t speak to alleged rape victim before sex... ‘IT WASN’T TIME FOR A CONVERSATION’

-

FOOTBALLER Ched Evans has told a court he didn’t speak to his alleged rape victim before having sex with her.

The 27-year-old said it “wasn’t really a time for conversation”, but denies raping the young woman in May 2011 and insisted he would “never harm a girl”.

Former Manchester City player Evans is accused of raping a teenage waitress after joining a friend who had taken her back to a Premier Inn hotel in Rhuddlan, north Wales.

He was found guilty of the charge at Caernarfon Crown Court in 2012, but his conviction was quashed in April.

Evans said: “She asked me to perform oral sex on her. I would never hurt a girl, I wouldn’t do anything to harm a girl and I wouldn’t perform oral sex on a girl who didn’t ask me to.”

Mr Medland asked: “Did you think at any stage for you to ask the woman if she minded having unprotected sex with you?”

Evans replied: “It wasn’t the right time. I wouldn’t have sex with somebody without their consent.

“She consented to me when she asked me to perform oral sex on her.”

Mr Medland then claimed that Evans “didn’t care” whether the woman wanted sex and felt “entitled” to behave like that towards a 19-year-old girl.

Evans said: “I wouldn’t treat a girl like that. I would never behave like that.”

The previously heard how the girl met Clayton McDonald in a kebab shop before accompanying him to the Premier Inn hotel.

Former Port Vale player McDonald then rang Evans from a taxi and said: “I’ve got a girl.”

Evans and McDonald both had sex with the girl, who has told the court that she has no memory of the events and believes her drink was spiked on the night out in question.
