Brave Boots staff hold off robber

A GROUP of Boots workers were praised for their bravery after they wrestled and detained a boxing coach who had attempted to steal from the store.

The four women successfully held Michael Newton, 48, after he tried to rob the Hull shop on September 30.

CCTV footage shows the boxing coach enter the store and walk behind the counter to grab the till. One of the women then runs behind him and grabs a plastic lid which she uses to stop him, while three others try to grab Newton away from the takings.

Newton was given a 12-month suspended sentence, and ordered to do 150 hours of unpaid work.
