IT has been two decades since cult hit

burst onto the scene and changed the face of the Brit film industry.

The world is a different place these days than it was back in 1996, when heroin addicts Renton, Spud and Sick Boy made their debut in Danny Boyle’s drug-addled flick.

The full-length trailer for the long-awaited sequel – based on Irvine Welsh’s novel Porno – was released last week and showed the gang slipping back into their old ways.

After leaving Edinburgh for London at the end of the first film, the trailer showed Renton (played by Ewan McGregor) making his return to the Scottish capital and reuniting with the gang.

So as the lads get set to make their return when T2 is released in January, we take a look back at what life was like in the days when John Major was still PM.

The charts these days are filled with infectious songs from baby-faced popstars such as Justin Bieber and One Direction, but back in the mid 90s Britpop was at its peak thanks to the likes of Oasis and Blur.

And gone are the days when the pages of the Midweek Sport were filled with the perky natural norks of glam legends Jo Guest and Karen Baggoley.

So sit back and relax as we take you on a trip down memory lane. CULT CLASSIC: Ewan McGregor in the first flick
