School­boy dies do­ing de­ten­tion

THE death of a boy, 14, who fell ill at school while in de­ten­tion is be­ing in­ves­ti­gated.

Nasar Ahmed, a year nine pupil at Bow School in east Lon­don, was taken to the Royal Lon­don Hospi­tal af­ter be­com­ing un­well last Thurs­day, Scot­land Yard said.

He died at the hospi­tal on Mon­day, and his death is now be­ing treated as un­ex­plained by po­lice.

The BBC last night re­ported that the boy was se­verely asth­matic.

It is un­der­stood that he was in an ex­clu­sion group with three other pupils, do­ing school work un­der a teacher’s su­per­vi­sion, when he be­gan to have prob­lems breath­ing and a 999 call was made.

A Met­ro­pol­i­tan Po­lice spokes­woman said: “The death is be­ing treated as un­ex­plained.”
