Star in line for double music award

POP babe Adele’s 25 was nominated yesterday for Album of the Year at next year’s Grammy Awards, while her single

Hello is up for Record and Song of the Year. The British singer competes with Beyonce, who is nominated in the same categories with her album Lemonade and single Formation.

Drake’s Views, Justin Bieber’s Purpose and Sturgill Simpson’s A Sailor’s Guide To Earth are also in the frame for Album of the Year.

Nominees for Best New Artist are Chance The Rapper, Maren Morris, Chainsmoke­rs, Anderson Paak and Kelsea Ballerini.

Singer Meghan Trainor revealed the nominees across the four top categories on CBS This Morning.

The Record of the Year category recognises an artist’s performanc­e as well as contributi­ons of producers and recording engineers, while the Song of the Year award is just for songwriter­s.

Music considered for the 2017 Grammys must have been released between October 1, 2015 and September 30, 2016.

James Corden will host the 59th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on February 12.

Adele’s Hello, Beyonce’s Formation and Lukas Graham’s 7 Years are up for both Record and Song of the Year.

Mike Posner’s I Took A Pill In Ibiza and Bieber’s Love Yourself, co-written with Ed Sheeran, will compete for Song of the Year, while Rihanna and Drake’s Work and Twenty One Pilots’ Stressed Out are also nominated for Record of the Year.

David Bowie, who died of cancer in January, missed out in the Album of the Year category for his critically acclaimed Blackstar, released just before his death.

Adele’s nomination­s include Best Pop Vocal Album for 25 and Pop Solo Performanc­e.
