BEER BUDDIES: Piers claims Rooney is a lightweight when drinking TV presenter Piers Morgan has claimed he got so PISSED with England footballer Wayne Rooney that the star striker fell into a plant pot.

Piers, 51, recalled the night he got drunk with Manchester United star Wayne, 31, and his wife Coleen, 30.

The Good Morning Britain host claims the footballer was so bladdered that he fell into a giant plant pot and even branded him a lightweight.

Although Piers claims he called it a night and went to bed at midnight, the Rooney’s stayed out partying until 5am the next morning.

He recalled: “Four years ago, I enjoyed a hilarious dinner with Wayne and his wife Coleen in LA.

“It ended at midnight, after gargantuan amounts of alcohol, with Wayne tripping up, smashing everything off our table and falling into a large garden pot.

“The next morning, I awoke to see a tweet from Mrs Rooney saying what a good time she and Wayne were having at Bootsy Bellows nightclub in West Hollywood. It was sent at 5am.”

England captain Rooney came under fire recently after a picture of him pissed in the early hours of the morning between international matches was leaked to the press.

Footballer Rooney was forced to apologise for the images and his conduct whilst representing his country and The FA have since taken action to prevent their stars from boozing.

However, Piers defended the striker’s bad behaviour and passed his drinking off as him being a lightweight.

Piers added: “My personal dismay at the England skipper’s latest boozing exploits is simply that as he gets older he seems to be becoming more of a lightweight.”
