star Michelle Hardwick has announced her separation from wife of two years Rosie Nicholl.

The actress, best known for her role as vet Vanessa Woodfield on the ITV soap, confirmed the estranged couple had ended their marriage a year ago – 12-months after exchanging vows.

She said: “Unfortunately Rosie and I did split last year but are still good friends. It was one of those things where we did drift apart. We had a fairytale wedding and I still love that day. It was brilliant.”

She explained: “I grew out of love and she became more of my best friends, like we were living as friends, not a married couple.

“We still live together, just in separate rooms while the divorce goes through.”

The actress said she decided to remain quiet about her marriage split for the better part of a year in a bid to avoid awkward questions.

The couple first met in 2011 when Michelle who says she had no idea that Rosie was gay – was appearing in panto.
