Chicken shop lout’s pyth­gon at­tack threat

A LOUT who threat­ened to use his pet python as a weapon has been banned from a chicken shop.

An­thony Dando ( 30, ap­peared be­fore JPs and pleaded guilty to ha­rass­ment af­ter he threat­ened staff at a take­away in New­cas­tle with the snake.

The court heard that on Novem­ber 9 last year Dando en­tered Dixy Chicken and asked for a warm blan­ket for his snake, telling the man­ager, “It’s a cold blooded an­i­mal”.

He was told there was no blan­ket and was asked to leave as cus­tomers were look­ing scared of the python wrapped around Dando’s wrist.

The court was told Dando threat­ened to throw the snake at the man­ager. His de­fence said he had never in­tended to carry out the threat.

The case was ad­journed un­til Fe­bru­ary 28 with Dando on con­di­tional bail.
