Phone death crash lorry driver jailed

-

POLICE have released dramatic dashcam footage of a lorry driver using his mobile phone as he crashed into a broken-down car, killing a 21-year-old motorist.

Dariusz Tokarczyk, of Harrogate, North Yorks, was jailed for four-and-a-half years after pleading guilty at Reading Crown Court to causing the death by dangerous driving of Jodie Moss, from Swindon, Wilts, on March 22 last year.

The 47-year-old ( above) was driving his lorry on the southbound carriageway of the A34, just north of the M4 junction at Chieveley, Berks, when he drove into the back of Ms Moss’s Vauxhall Corsa.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: “He did not see the car in time to avoid it because he was looking at his mobile phone.

“Her car suffered an engine failure and was stationary in the inside lane. She had switched on its hazard lights.

“The road was not busy and other drivers are seen to manoeuvre past her. Tokarczyk’s vehicle drove straight into hers.” THE defence policy of New Zealand’s McGillicuddy Serious Party was to leave beer on all beaches to distract any invading army
