‘Killed by Superman punch teen’

A TEENAGE lad killed a Polish man with a “Superman punch” which caused him to fall and hit his head on the ground, a court heard.

The youth, who was 15-years-old at the time of the alleged attack and cannot be named for legal reasons, denies the manslaughter of Arkadiusz Jozwik.

Mr Jozwik, 40 ( above), had been drinking with friends and had just bought a pizza when he was set upon outside a row of takeaway shops in Harlow, Essex, at 11.30pm on August 27 last year, Chelmsford Crown Court heard.

He died two days later in hospital from head injuries.

Prosecutor Rosina Cottage said: “The youth moved around the back of Mr Jozwik to take him by surprise and to hit him from behind.

“He jumped up from the ground using the whole force of his body to hit Mr Jozwik.

“From what looks to be like a ‘Superman punch’ that he threw he must have intended to send the man to the ground.”

Showing CCTV footage to jurors, Ms Cottage said it appears that Mr Koscelski tripped over his own feet then the youth – who is now 16 – “appears to jump in the air and swing his arm with force to the head of Mr Jozwik”.
