Airport smugglers are gold-fingered

-

TWO female smugglers have been caught trying to sneak 4kg of gold through customs in their KNICKERS.

One woman – Santaletchmi Superamaniam, 41 – was stopped and questioned by officials after they became suspicious when she said she had come from Singapore to Mumbai for a day’s shopping.

During questioning, she told officers about her accomplice, Magisvary Jairaman, 59, from Singapore, who had already passed through the customs department.

Jairaman was stopped while leaving the airport and both ladies were asked to pass through a metal detector, which revealed the hidden gold.

An official said the Singapore-based handler – who was later also arrested – would often use women who looked like high-profile execs or from wealthy families, to avoid suspicion.
