ARMED COPS SWOOP ON BURKA BAN GASMAN IN DEBENHAMS

-

CAMPAIGN: Dunn wants to have burqas banned A GAS engineer was stopped by armed police after he changed into a burka in a High Street store and was then heard imitating loud prayer. Thomas Dunn, 57, left the Debenham’s store on Sunday lunchtime and took off the burka.

He was questioned and searched by police in Exeter, Devon, after they stopped him under the Terrorism Act – and then released without charge.

He said he had dressed in the burka before and it was part of his one-man campaign to ban the wearing of burkas in the UK.

He said: “I have always been a little intimidated by people wearing burkas and since all the terrorist attacks I think the Government should ban anyone from covering their faces as on CCTV it won’t pick up who they are.
