Margot thinks skate role was just ‘made up’

-

FIT actress Margot Robbie had NO IDEA her latest film was a true story and thought that top ice-skater Tonya Harding was a work of FICTION.

The Aussie stunna, 27, plays American Olympic figure skater Tonya in the film I, Tonya, but didn’t know she was playing a real-life person.

In one of the most controversial moments in sporting history, Tonya was involved in hiring an assailant to break the leg of her competitor, Nancy Kerrigan, in 1994.

Margot said: “To be honest, when I read the script, I didn’t know who Tonya Harding was, and I didn’t realise it was a true story.

“I thought it was entirely fictionalised and our writer Steve was so creative to come up with the quirky characters and absurd incidents.”

Tonya, now 46, met Margot to chat about the upcoming film, and Margot added: “It was a bizarre experience. She was so kind.”
