Ed...the GINGER Beatle!

HITMAKER Ed Sheeran is set to land a key role in a new film about the Beatles, which is set for release later this year. Scriptwriter Richard Curtis, 61, wants the chart-topping singer to star in his flick centred on the music of the Fab Four. It’s understood Ed’s role in the movie, titled All You Need Is Love, will involve appearing on screen as well as penning new music and singing the Beatles’ biggest hits. A source said: “Everything Ed touches turns to gold. He is the biggest pop star on the planet. “If anyone can make a film about the Beatles songs even better, it’s him.” Ed, 27, is known to be a huge fan of the legendary Liverpudlian band and took part in a Grammy’s tribute to the foursome.

Secrecy

The upcoming film is said to be one of the most hotly- anticipated releases of the year but has, so far, been shrouded in secrecy. Alongside ginger Ed, EastEnders actor Himesh Patel, 27, is also believed to have a starring role, plus Downton Abbey actress Lily James, 29. Filming is due to take place over the summer with creator Curtis having already written a script.

Trainspotting director Danny Boyle, 61, is thought to be taking over the reins of the screenplay and is said to be really passionate about this movie.

Our inside source added: “Ed won’t be acting, so much as helping with the music and most likely making a cameo appearance.

“No-one is suggesting the Beatles music needs any help, but as Ed is a talented producer he will be of help to Richard and Danny behind the scenes.”
