SO WHAT ABOUT THE WESTWORLD ROLE APPEALED TO THANDIE?

SCI-FI drama returned this week for its second series – and lead star Thandie Newton says being NAKED made her sign up for the show.

Thandie, 45, plays brothel madam Maeve in the Sky Atlantic series and was sold the role by being told she’d be nude for 75 per cent of the time.

Set in a Wild West theme park where humans pay to do whatever they want to the lifelike robotic ‘hosts’, Thandie plays one of the star bots.

Westworld has had as much attention for its nudity as it has for its violence and complex plot, and Hollywood hottie Thandie has told why she couldn’t wait to play Maeve.

She said: “I talked to the producers before I was cast and they said: ‘You’ll have to be nude for 75 per cent of the time, and you’ll be playing the madam of a saloon’. “I was like: ‘You do know I’ve been an activist for ending violence against women for the past 20 years?’ “But then they described the premise of the show, that this character would end up being a revolutionary, and that the nudity would be used to show the denigration and degradation. “And I was like, ‘Yeah, that’s a reason to get naked’. “I had no idea how ambitious, daring and brave it would be. I haven’t felt this excited about a show since I can even remember.” The last episode saw Maeve and the fellow robots take bloody revenge on the park’s human guests and this series is set to pick up where the first one left off. Hit series Westworld isn’t the only sci-fi role Thandie has lined up this year as she’s also got a huge role in this year’s Star Wars movie Solo.
