A TOP Downing Street civil servant for Tony Blair has been accused of a sex attack on a barmaid.

Mark Adams, 56 ( left), spent six years at No.10 serving as high-flying Private Secretary to John Major and Tony Blair as Prime Ministers.

The former civil servant – who was awarded the OBE in 1997 – is accused of the sex attack after he allegedly touched the woman over the age of 16 sexually when she did not consent.

The alleged assault took place at a pub in the seaside resort of Tenby in Pembrokeshire, West Wales, on December 28 last year.

Another charge of soliciting another person for the purpose of obtaining their sexual services as a prostitute was dropped after he earlier appeared on both charges in a magistrates’ court.

Adams, of Portsmouth, appeared at Swansea Crown Court on the sexual assault charge.

He did not enter a plea and was released on bail to appear at a later date.
