DURING the penultimate season of

Dixie was roped in to play the vibrant new stepmother of Gary Coleman’s character.

Although she starred in the hit TV series in 1984-85, Dixie also made a success of herself as a cabaret singer.

However, she didn’t escape the deadly curse of and in 2010, she died at her home in Houston, Texas.

Aged 70, the actress’ death was announced by her husband Hal Holbrook who said she died following endometrial cancer complications.
