EMMA WATSON GETS SLOT ON COUNTRYFILE

Fury at BBC farming show’s ‘PC agenda’

HARRY Potter actress Emma Watson is set for a spell as a presenter... on Countryfile!

The 29-year-old, who played Hermione Granger on the fantasy wizard flick, has since turned her hand to promoting women’s issues.

And it is in this role that she has been recruited to appear on the BBC’s rural-based magazine show.

Emma will appear for at least three episodes with special reports from around the world focused on women in farming.

But some in the farming community are unhappy that Emma has been chosen for the role.

Hannah Lorne, 23, who works on a farm in Cumbria, said: “We don’t need Hollywood people on telly telling us about farming.

Nonsense

“This is typical of the BBC. They think just because someone is famous that they have the right to lecture us.

“Women are doing very well in farming and don’t need this PC nonsense.

“Countryfile has long become city folk’s idea of what the countryside is and not a true reflection of the truth.

“I can’t imagine Emma Watson will be out shooting rats or pulling sheep out of snowdrifts.

“That’s real farming, not blethering about equality, diversity and representation.

“If you can do the job, you’re a farmer. If you can’t, you’re not. Emma Watson can f**k off!”

The first report will come from the High Peak in Derbyshire, the second from African country Mozambique and the third from China.

A BBC source said: “Emma is a global superstar with global appeal and will attract a younger audience that Countryfile needs.”
