A STUDENT raped a woman at a drunken house party while she was unconscious and covered in vomit.

Luke Hudson, 21, was caught out when her concerned friends placed a mobile phone under the locked door of a bedroom and saw him on top of her while she did not appear to be moving.

They tried to force the door and when Hudson, naked below the waist, eventually opened it, they saw the victim with her clothes removed and passed out.

Hudson was jailed for four years and six months at Liverpool Crown Court after earlier being convicted of rape by a jury.

The ocean sciences student denied having penetrative sex with the woman, but swabs revealed traces of her DNA on his genitals after the incident in 2017.

Judge Louise Brandon, passing sentence, said she was satisfied after hearing the evidence that Hudson knew the victim was unable to consent.

She told Hudson: “Despite her vulnerability, you raped her without protection for your own sexual satisfaction.

“As a result of what happened she felt the need to isolate herself from her friends, many of whom knew about the the incident.”

The court heard Hudson was at a house party and had agreed to share his alcohol with the victim, who had lost her ID and was unable to buy her own.

Witnesses described her being drunk at the party and a photo of her was taken showing her appearing to be asleep or “passed out”.

Ben Jones, prosecuting, told the jury that at some point Hudson and the victim ended up alone in a bedroom, behind a locked door.

The court heard Hudson had been “hostile” to people outside the room and had told them to go away.

Eventually, concerned witnesses slid the phone under the door with the camera activated, which they told the jury showed Hudson on top of the victim who was lying horizontally on the bed.

They said her naked leg was visible and despite Hudson appearing to be

DENIAL: But Hudson had victim’s DNA on genitals having sex with her, she was not moving or making any noise.

When Hudson eventually opened the door they noticed the victim had vomit on her and she needed to be shaken awake.

The jury heard she was taken to a friend’s house and confirmed she had not consented to any sexual contact.

She later contacted Hudson to ask what had happened and the student lied and told her they had not had sex.

Mr Jones, describing the impact on the woman, said: “She explains that as a result of this incident she experienced anxiety when in public, particularly in the company of males.

“Her anxiety levels have impacted on her everyday life and did impact on her studies.”

Hudson, of Wavertree, Liverpool, was also placed on the sex offenders register for life.
