HOLLYWOOD SEX EXPERT ‘TRIED TO FIGHT OFF HER KILLER’

-

VICTIM: Amie Harwick

A HOLLYWOOD sex therapist who was thrown to her death from a balcony “desperately fought” against her attacker on the night she was killed.

Amie Harwick, 38 – who was previously engaged to comedian Drew Carey – was found dead outside her home in the Hollywood Hills.

Now medical examiners claim she was strangled and then pushed from her third-floor balcony.

Their report show she sustained wounds to her hands and fingers in the struggle that are “consistent with a combination of defence and assault type wounds – suggestive of an altercation.”

Her ex-boyfriend, Gareth Pursehouse, 41, was arrested for murder and burglary and is accused of strangling and throwing Amie to her death shortly before 1am on February 15.

The report details Amie “sustained severe injuries of her brain, liver and pelvis in an apparent fall from a height. Injuries to her neck, particularly strap muscle haemorrhage, are consistent with manual strangulation”.

A statement from the Sheriff’s deputy told how Amie’s roommate “was awoken by sounds of a female screaming”.

The statement reads: “Screaming was coming from above his residence and he could hear sounds of some type of physical fight… he then realised it was Amie screaming.”

After the discovery of Amie’s body, Pursehouse was arrested, before then being released on £1.6million bail.

However, Pursehouse was re-arrested the following day on a no-bail warrant and charged with one count of murder and another of first degree burglary.

The sex therapist had a restraining order against Pursehouse, but it had expired in 2015.

Amie dated Drew Carey for two years before the pair split in 2018, just a few months after announcing their engagement.

The Price is Right host said he was “overcome with grief” following her death.

Paying tribute to her on Twitter, he said: “I hope you are lucky enough to have someone in your life that loves as much as she did.”
