Pic up your fave newspaper – and lots more – at your brilliant local neighbourhood retailer

UP and down the country, millions have been sent home to work, or even laid off, as the Great Coronavirus Shutdown grinds Britain to a halt.

But some are still working full-tilt.

Our NHS and other front line workers, of course, are in the vanguard, battling to keep us safe from the ravages of the deadly virus.

But there are others, too, who are also working hard – harder than ever in some cases – and we reckon it’s time to give them a shout out too!

We’re talking about Britain’s army of small neighbourhood shopkeepers, the Open All Hours traders who welcome customers from the lark’s first whistle to the dead of night.

Newsagents, off-licences, tobacconists and grocers – often all four in one – THESE are the shops which form the backbone of the High Street.

What’s more, the independent stores are the ones which stock your favourite Midweek, Weekend and Sunday Sport.

Thanks to their huge range of wares, long hours and customer service that’s second to none, our local shops are being rediscovered by millions during the crisis.

The fact that corner shops are, well, on the corner, means they are particularly useful in these times, when we’re limiting how far and how much we travel.

It’s important that this is not just a blip caused by the virus.

When this is over, we should all use our local shops MORE and keep our vital community hubs thriving.

That’s why we urge every Sport reader to fill a basket of groceries and goodies when they pop in to buy their favourite paper.

Why trek all the way to a big, faceless supermarket when everything you need to buy is on your doorstep?

By supporting your local shop, you are supporting local business, you are supporting local communities and you are supporting your favourite newspapers.

Without our brilliant readers and our brilliant retailers, the three Sport newspapers would be no more.
