JAILBIRD WHOSE BUM TRICK SHOCKED BORIS

A PRISONER who stunned the Prime Minister by trying to smuggle drugs into jail inside a Kinder Egg stuffed up his arse has had more time added to his sentence.

When Boris Johnson was shown body scan images of packages hidden up inmates’ bottoms last summer he looked taken aback and said: “You’re joking.”

One of the images had been taken two months earlier when Zachary Bowler, 27, was caged for beating his girlfriend up with a cricket bat.

He was not identified at the time but has now been named in court where a judge ordered

Leeds Crown Court heard warders spotted an “oval package” inside Bowler’s body when he was scanned as he was booked into HMP Leeds.

Prosecutor Stephen Welch said Bowler was placed in an isolation cell and then “asked to retrieve the item”.

Bowler eventually handed over a Kinder Egg which contained 10 buprenorphine tablets.

The Class C drug is more commonly known as subutex and is often prescribed to addicts going through detox.

Bowler, from Boston Spa in West Yorks, admitted hiding the Kinder Egg inside his body and pleaded guilty to conveying a list A article into prison.

He was handed a 14-week sentence, to be added to his current two-and-a-half year sentence.

Last summer when Boris was shown the image as an example of the smuggling methods used by lags, he added: “A Kinder Egg? Is that inside the…?”

The PM was visiting the prison when, according to its latest inspection, it was one of the most overcrowded in the UK and where in 2017 the majority of inmates said getting drugs was “easy”.
