JOTA HAS THE LOTTA BOOMS KOP BOSS

- By ANDY MILLOM

JURGEN Klopp says new Liverpool signing Diogo Jota has made a sensational start to life at the Kop. And he is warning the Premier League that the Portugal forward is only operating “at 20%” so far.

The Anfield gaffer was delighted to see his £40m summer arrival from Wolves hit the target on his Premier League debut for the club.

That was during the 3-1 victory against Arsenal that has sent out a message that the champions will be hard to knock off their perch.

And Klopp thinks the 23-year-old will be a major asset in the coming months. He said: “I’m really pleased for Diogo Jota. Top, top guy. It’s so difficult to improve a team like ours.

“He’s been on my list for two or three years, he’s here now.

“He’s on 20 per cent of information on what we do exactly. We had meetings to talk about but it all will take time and he had like 60 or 70 minutes’ time to see how Sadio is doing it, and came on the pitch and did incredibly well.

“He scored a super goal, nice first game at Anfield — he will never forget it, I will never forget it, so cool start!

“It was a really good game, I loved pretty much each second. I didn’t like obviously the goal we conceded but the reaction afterwards I really liked a lot.

“We were dominant, we played football, we were difficult to defend, attitude great, played some really great stuff.

“Arsenal had not too many but some chances because they have real quality.”

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has earned rave reviews for the way his new-look side have started the season.

But he admits that there’s still a massive gap to bridge before his team can challenge for the title again.

The Spaniard believes Liverpool will be even better than last season when they fell just short of the 100-point mark in finishing on top.

He said: “They have done a lot of good work. They have a lot of belief in the way they play, they have had great recruitment and have improved the players they have.

“They have set the bar, probably the best standard that we have seen in many years. We still have a long way to go.”
