DID PIERS GET WOOD ON TELLY?

- By SIMON DEAN simon@sundaysport.co.uk

MOST celebrity marriages don’t last this long…

On Monday, Piers Morgan, 55, and Susanna Reid, 49, marked five years of gracing Good Morning Britain together.

But the air turned saucy when Lorraine Kelly popped up to plug her own show, which follows Good Morning Britain.

The sexy Scot pointed out that, traditionally, you are supposed to “give wood” for a fifth anniversary.

Red-faced loudmouth Piers spluttered: “It’s a bit early for that.”

“Getting wood” is sex people talk for a man developing an erection.

And springing a stiffy would be natural enough for anyone sitting next to smouldering news bint Susanna.

Susanna was the first GMB signing during its £1.5m inauguration in 2014, presenting alongside Ben Shephard before Piers took over the following year.

As they marked their half-decade anniversary, Piers chatted about their time on the show and also took to Twitter to celebrate the milestone.

He said: “It’s the fifth anniversary of Susanna and I working together on this programme.” To which Susanna quipped: “I would like to say congratulations to our entire team and all credit to your patience and endurance.”

Piers recalled: “My first week they made us do a parody of Last Christmas and I remember thinking, I’ve gone from being a CNN news anchor to this.”

Susanna explained how she found out about him joining GMB: “Five years ago when the editor walked into my dressing room and said, ‘We have a proposal, which is Piers Morgan might come and sit next to you on the programme’...

“I had to take my microphone off because I didn’t want anybody else to hear my reaction to that news.

“Five years, congratulations, well done, you have put up with a lot as well.”
