KILLER KEPT HIS WIFE IN KITCHEN BIN
A MAN kept a body believed to be his missing girlfriend in his kitchen BIN.
John Meadows, 58, was arrested on charges of murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence.
The remains are thought to belong to his 57-year-old girlfriend, Donna Lay, cops say.
A neighbour in Williamsburg, Kentucky, had reported Lay missing after not seeing her in several weeks.
Police interviewed Meadows (above) about her disappearance the following day.
“His story didn’t make a whole lot of sense,” Williamsburg Police Chief Wayne Bird said.
Bird said they then obtained a search warrant for Meadows’ apartment, where a trained cadaver dog alerted officers to the remains.
“After the dogs alerted, we opened the garbage can and there was a human body inside,” Bird said.
The medical examiner has yet to confirm the identity of the remains, but an autopsy has determined the cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the head.
Authorities believe Meadows had been living with the remains for three weeks before the gruesome discovery.
Police also learned Meadows was searching the internet for information on how a body decomposes and had “a large number of air fresheners” to try to disguise the odour.
A spokesman for the local council in Williamsburg said: “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the dead lady’s family.
“If nothing else, this must be seen as a clear violation of recycling protocols.”
