Hendo crocked so Ram gets nod

-

DEAN Henderson has been forced out of the England Euros squad with a hip injury.

The No3 keeper has not been able to train and has gone back to Manchester United for treatment.

His place has gone to Aaron Ramsdale who was part of the original 33-man training group.

The Sheffield United stopper joins Jordan Pickford and Sam Johnstone in Gareth Southgate’s squad.

Teams are allowed to replace injured goalies at any time during the tournament.

There was better news on the injury front as Harry Kane and John Stones were both able to play a full part in training yesterday.

Both picked up minor knocks in the 1-0 win over Croatia but there is clearly nothing serious.

Harry Maguire also took part in the session as he battles his way back to full fitness.

He is not likely to figure until the knockout stage of the tournament.

Jack Grealish was not part of the session with England saying he sat out purely as a precaution.

The Aston Villa skipper did light gym work instead but must be a doubt for the Scotland clash.

Meanwhile, boss Gareth Southgate insists there is no rift between Stones and Pickford.

The pair had a slanging match on the pitch during the Croatia game.

The manager insists they were just sorting out tactics rather than having a blazing row as it appeared.

Southgate said: “I think they were just deciding, we give them pictures and it depends how the opposition press and there were times where it was on to take on.

“It’s great to play out from the back and get to the halfway line in control of the ball, but it’s just as effective to go to the centre forward and be in control of the ball and be able to play from there. The variety is important against top opposition.”
