A KILLER gran stabbed her pal 55 times then planted evidence to point the finger at the victim’s husband.

And when the net started to close in on evil Pamela Hupp, she shot dead a man with learning difficulties to throw cops off the scent.

Hupp, 62, is already in jail, serving life for the second killing, but now she’s been charged with killing her friend Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ Faria. And prosecutors have called for the death penalty. The bizarre case had unfolded in Lincoln County, Missouri.

Prosecutor Mike Wood said that Hupp convinced Betsy Faria to switch a £100,000 life insurance policy to Hupp’s name just four days before staging her stabbing death to make it look like her husband had done it.

Prosecutors say Hupp waited until Faria was weak and lethargic from chemotherapy before she stabbed her 55 times as she lay on a couch under a blanket.

Blood

Then Hupp dipped the victim’s socks in spilled blood and spread it around the house to frame her husband for killing her in a domestic assault, according to court documents charging Hupp with the 2011 murder.

Prosecutors also noted that Hupp was the last known person to see Faria alive, and claim she was aware Faria’s husband would not be home on December 27, 2011, when she drove Betsy home from chemo.

In 2013, Betsy’s hubby, Russell Faria, was found guilty of her murder, which was overturned on appeal two years later and a new investigation was then launched into his wife’s death.

Fearing the new probe would unmask her, Hupp killed another man in a plot that she thought would draw suspicion away from her in Mrs Faria’s murder.

Prosecutors claim she cruised St. Charles County, and lured 33-year-old Louis Gumpenberger, who had mental and physical disabilities from an accident, to her home with claims she was a producer for the TV show Dateline in need of help re-enacting a crime scene.

Hupp reported his death, claiming she’d shot him in self-defence after he launched an unprovoked attack on her in her driveway.

She planted evidence that Russell Faria had hired Mr Gumpenberger to kidnap her and get his hands on his dead wife’s insurance money.

But her twisted plot unravelled and she was later charged with Mr Gumpenberger’s killing.

She entered a guilty plea in that case on the condition the death penalty was waived.

In 2019 Hupp was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility for parole.
