KANE HAS TO LEAVE THE LANE Even Tottenham’s players say Harry must sign for City

- By PAUL THOMAS

HARRY Kane must leave Spurs if he wants to win trophies before his career ends.

That’s the view of one former and a current Tottenham player who believe the England skipper will win nothing if he remains in north London.

Louis Saha reckons Kane has more than done his share at Spurs and deserves the chance to play for a more successful club like Man City.

Their boss Pep Guardiola wants to sign Harry to replace Sergio Aguero who has left for Barcelona.

Saha said: “Harry Kane is such a professional and has always committed himself in the best way possible.

“But Harry has every right to try and push for a move. He’s proven himself and conducted himself in the best way possible but it is understandable that he wants to leave and try to win the best trophies.

“He feels like he gave everything to his club and now deserves an open door.

“I had the same situation at Fulham. At the end of the day, it is your career and if people show ambition in any other career then it would be respected but that gets lost in football sometimes.

“We can forget that players are humans with emotions and not robots who might have a dream job they are after.”

Even current Spurs player Moussa Sissoko agrees that it will be hard for Kane to achieve his goals if he stays with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

Sissoko may not be in London long himself. Fenerbahce have reportedly been in talks to bring him to Turkey.

The 31-year-old has been told by Santo that he’s free to leave and it will be a relatively small fee in the region of £5m.

It sounds like Kane will be following him through the exit.

Sissoko said: “Like all players, Kane wants to win titles. A player of his stature deserves to win titles each season.

“Sadly, we have failed to do so each time for various reasons. I think that this must irk him inside.

“I do not know if he will leave or not, but if he ever did leave, I would wish him the best because he deserves to win titles with all that he has done.

“He is truly an extraordinary player.”

Tottenham didn’t miss Kane too much on Sunday as they saw off champions City 1-0.

As many have predicted, it could be the making of Son Heung-min to be the No1 goalgetter in the Spurs team.

And the Korean showed his class with the winning goal.

Son is adamant that all the speculation about Kane is not distracting other stars in the squad.

He said: “Everybody should be ready for every game, that is so important.

“There is a chance every game, we know how important that is. If

you’re not focused, if you’re not ready, then every game we are going to struggle.

“That is why, in the pre-season, we are working really hard to try and make it as easy as possible for the coming season.

“We want to focus game by game to try and win the games and we will see when we arrive what we can achieve.”

Training

There may be a clue about Kane’s future after he was named in the Tottenham party for their Europa Conference League clash with Pacos De Ferreira in Portugal.

He wasn’t even in the squad for the Man City game but Santo says that’s because he hadn’t been in training for long enough. But

Tottenham fans shouldn’t get too excited.

If Kane does play against the Portugeezers on Thursday night he wouldn’t be cup-tied for the Champions League from the group stages which wouldn’t put City off making their move.

Nuno is still making the right noises about his star striker staying in London.

He said: “Harry is one of the best players in the world, so we are very lucky to have him.

“He has to get ready and help the team. We still have to go to Portugal and then we think about Wolves on Sunday.

“Harry worked this morning, is preparing himself and when he is ready he will join the group and help the team.”
