WESTCOTT
It’s taken 25 years to build so far and is nearly complete, but JACK ANZIANI has never been in a hurry to put this outstanding showcase of model making talent to bed, and there’s a good reason why.
Westcott’ has taken Jack Anziani 25 years to build - it’s not that he’s particularly slow at model making, but because his philosophy largely revolves around modelling when he feels like it. Hobbies should be enjoyed, after all. Other commitments have occupied Jack’s interests over the years, and it wasn’t until relatively recently that work on ‘Westcott’ became a pastime priority. He has also amassed a sizeable collection of motive power over the years - much of which is right at home on this LMS themed Georgian-era beauty.
IN A COOL, DRY PLACE
The freelance layout permanently resides in a loft, but there’s still work to be done. “It’s 99% finished,” says Jack. “I just need to wire the signalling, install a computer indexing system for the turntable, and finish the point rodding.” He admits that replicating point rodding isn’t the most enjoyable job, and that’s precisely why it’s not yet finished. “You have to be in the mood for it, he explains. “It’s only been within the last eight years that I’ve really focused my efforts on the layout - I’m getting too old to crawl under cars and meddle with aeroplanes. Now I’d rather sit in my attic, modelling.”
