HOW TO DO IT: CREATE SEVERN BEACH STATION
In order to create space under the canopy, the columns and their respective lattice girders need to be moved to the outer edges. Start by removing the fixing brackets with a sharp blade.
Don’t try to cut the fixing brackets flush with the main piece. Leave a little waste so that you can finish off using descending grades of wet and dry paper to achieve the smoothest surface.
The column locating pins on the longitudinal girders are particularly vulnerable during this process, as I found to my cost, despite Airfix plastic being much harder than that of Dapol, which uses recycled material.
Position the girders as shown, a little inwards of the fascia boards. Make sure that everything is square. Compare it with the prototype photograph and it looks like a decent representation of the real thing.
