THE LIFE OF WILLIAM ADAMS

William Adams was born on october 15 1823. As a young man, he held various engineerin­g positions before joining the embryonic north London Railway. He was appointed Locomotive Engineer at Bow Works in 1854, where he stayed until he joined the Great Eastern Railway in 1873. He’s credited with four locomotive for the NLR and five for the GER. He joined the LSWR in 1878 and retired on May 29 1895. He died in Putney on August 7 1904.
