WINDOWS OF OPPORTUNITY

-

York Modelmaking has added a bountiful array of new laser-cut building accessories and tools to its range, including an exquisite choice of windows and roof tiles for ‘N’, ’OO’ and ‘O’ gauge. Detailing or scratch-building a church is made easier with a selection of window styles and sizes, each being assembled from several layers to create an authentic sense of depth and relief (OO-C6E £7.00 per pair; OO-C3A £8.00 per four-pack). Domestic and commercial premises can also be enhanced with a new range of sash windows that can be posed in the open position. Again, two or three separate layers are laminated to avoid a ‘flat’ appearance (OO-205 round-top sash £6.00 per four-pack; O-206 sash £7.50 per four-pack). All windows are cut from tough plastic and a handy innovation is a selection of MDF cutting templates to ensure that window apertures are formed accurately and neatly (from £2.00 each). To complement the ecclesiastical windows, printed acetate sheets provide a choice of stained glass patterns to suit 2, 4 and 7mm scales. Each pack offers 200mm by 140mm worth of glazing (£4.00 per pack). Latest additions to the range of self-adhesive laser-cut roof tiles includes a set of offset grey slates for 7mm scale, producing a suitably ramshackle appearance, ideal for old stone-built cottages or farm buildings (O-TILES10 £7.00). Sets of 4mm scale arched tiles, in a choice of colours, will add a decorative touch to Victorian or Edwardian buildings (OO-TILES08 £6.50), while a set of rounded tiles will do likewise for 2mm scale models (N-TILES09 £5.00). Finally, a new miniature set of Magnetic Mates provides two-pairs of 12mm by 12mm clamps. Aiding the positioning and assembly of wood, card, metal and plastic components, the tools have many uses (MAG-MC2 £12.00). (GD)
