Trains on the big day

My passion for modelling came from my late granddad; he used to make and sail model boats on Southport marina. He also had some track, nailed to a green baseboard, which he would bring out of the garage for family occasions - it had no scenery or buildings, but I loved it dearly. I have integrated sections of that track into my own layout. I’m lucky enough to have a whole room dedicated to my hobby, which includes memorabilia, a few of my granddad’s old boats and trains, and - of course - my layout. The bulk of the track is ‘OO’, with a small section dedicated to ‘N’ gauge. I started to lay the track six years ago. It’s an unfinished project, but I’m sure there will always be something to add or change. I’m fully aware that a few of the cars are a little anachronistic, and that they might not be prototypical, but it’s my hobby and I love it! I find that the hours drift by while I’m playing trains - I could even be found in my train room on the morning of my wedding day. Isn’t it a bride’s prerogative to be a little late, after all?
